The Study of Blood Lactate and Leukocytosis After Muscular Exercise

Abstract
Experiments were performed in ten healthy young men and ten normal rabbits. Lactate content, LDH activity and leukocyte counts were measured after running 16Km, in man and leukocyte counts were done after infusion of lactate intravenously in rabbits.
The results were as follows
1. Control value for blood lactate was 21.911.91mg%(meanS.E.) in man. At the end of exercise, and 24 hours after exercise the blood lactate content were 43.352.06mgo and 23.631.52mg% respectively.
2. Control value for blood LDH activity in man was 154.5014.79 units. At the end of exercise, and 24 hours after exercise the blood LDH activity were 305.0033.43 units and 172.00-10.54 units respectively.
3. Control value for leukocyte in man was 6,920223. 10 counts/mms in blood. At the end of exercise, and 24 hours after exercise were 17,860898.73 counts/mms and 7,350 312.97 counts/mms in blood respectively.
4. Control value for leukocyte in rabbit was 11,687709.4 counts/mms in blood. At the end of infusion, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours 6 hours and 24 hours after infusion were 13, 036641.46 counts, 15, 524443.04 counts,¢¥.14, 7501, 160. 12 counts, 13, 915443.04 counts, 13, 906792.72 counts and 11, 56J O--¢¥ 675.63 counts/mms in blood respectively.
It is concluded that the lactate and LDH activity were increased by muscular exercise, and the exercise leukocytosis is induced at least partly increased blood lactate.
